The Old School Room and Heritage Centre
St Hilary Parish Church resolved at the end of 2008 to tackle the much-needed restoration of the Old School Room, beside the church, which had been disused for many years. In response to aspirations contained in the Marazion and District Forum Community Plan for a higher profile for local history, language and culture, the idea took shape of creating, as well as a new hall for church and community use, a small Heritage Centre in which to interpret and exhibit the story of this remarkable area.
The Heritage Centre, which is on the ground floor, opened in 2011. Discover the fascinating history of the Parish of St Hilary, with it’s links to Marazion and St Michaels Mt it has a rich and celebrated past from prehistoric to present times. Opening times are 11am to 4pm every Wednesday and Friday (volunteers permitting) between May and September.
On every Wednesday a warm welcome awaits visitors, walkers and locals alike in the café upstairs which serves tea and cakes, it’s open from 11am to 4pm from April to September.
